Dont crash the coffee? (or the tumors)

I have always LOVED this statement. Any of my moto family who has taken or know the guys at YCRS (Yamaha Champions Riding School) know this term.... "dont crash the coffee". Im pretty sure Nick Ineatch came up with this one.... Im going to F$*@ this up but basically it means to slow down, think about what you are doing and plan before you're doing it.... Dont just wake up, run down the stairs and "crash the coffee" because you are just ready to rock and going hard at everything. This is how I took it at least.... I LOVE this statement. Dayna even made me a sign and put it next to the coffee machine to attempt to slow me down each morning and breathe.... I'm not saying it has worked for me but I do think of it often. I crash my bike, the coffee, my business etc... but again I do think of this line often. Its the thought that counts.

I think I am going to use this approach in my treatment plan. Lets NOT "crash the tumors". If you have been following the blog you know by now that we have 2 teams with opposing strategies here. TEAM 1: Go hard and get as many of the tumors out of my liver (which there are 20+ now and slighting growing) and keep treating. This would be a larger surgical approach and involve removing my primary by doing a bowel resection, removing my appendix, removing my gall bladder and de-bulking my liver. The doctors like to use the term "resetting the clock" and believe removing as much cancer as they can may have this affect. As much as this may be true, its also evident that these tumors can continue to regrow and pop up elsewhere even when they are removed.

TEAM 2: Remove the primary, appendix, gall bladder and treat/monitor. No touchy the liver....This is obviously less invasive on the me and the liver. It also allows us to wait for other and newer liver procedures that are on the horizon (histotripsy being one). They would monitor my liver often and address any concerns should they arise. They are not saying "never" just saying not to touch my liver right now. There was an entire tumor board meeting that came to this conclusion, not just my doctors.

My tumors are mid grade and slow growing so time is on my side for the most part. Although my tumors are "active" meaning they are secreting hormones etc., the treatment I have now started should slow this down and get them under control. No one seems to think removing the primary and just treating for while will lose me any real time or ability to go for the more aggressive surgical approach should I need it. I was fighting hard against possibly needing multiple surgeries over the next few years, but I think I have let this go.... After the last 16 months or so I have had I really would love to not stress my body any further and take the path of least resistance for once in my life. As long as the treatment does its job Im hoping that we can wait out the liver de-bulking in hopes for a better option. So that's that.... Hopefully this coming week we can get the primary surgery re scheduled and get through that phase of BS. After the treatment yesterday (lanreotide injections) my stomach is just being an asshole (pun intended)....... This should subside soon. My ass hurt for a bit yesterday from the needle. I think dayna enjoyed it and of course captured the momentous occasion for us all..... I'll spare you those photos.

Love and thank you all!!! Will keep the updates coming.. PB
